Fishing...and dating?

It occurred to me last week as I went out fishing for the first time this year, that fishing and dating are really one and the same. You cast out your line and sometimes you get a bite and sometimes you don't. Sometimes you can wait all day long hoping for the big one, and sometimes you wait years for that certain someone to make the big commitment, and sometimes it just never happens. Then there are the days when you just catch one fish after the other, but you have to keep throwing them back because they just don't fit the bill. (As with some dates.)
But then there are the days, when you catch them and reel them in, and they are the keepers. That was the day I had last week, and we only caught one tiny fish!
I spent a wonderful afternoon fishing with a new friend, date you might say, and as we sat there talking and laughing (haven't laughed so hard in I don't know when!) and having a really wonderful time, the entire day flew by with only one tiny catch! But neither one of us cared, because we had caught a beautiful day that we'll always remember. It had been such a long time since I was in the company of a real gentleman, that I had forgotten what it was like. Although I can handle worms myself, he was kind enough to bate my hook, open my car doors and even carry me over two flooded feet of water, to get us out to the dock! What a guy!
It had been a long time since I went fishing and even longer since I decided to try dating again since my divorce. But I can honestly say, that regardless of my past experiences, there are still some fish that are worth keeping and still some men who know what feelings are, and are respectful and kind.
I think I've found a fish worth keeping!

Coming soon - I'm currently working on some new fishing designs for t-shirts and gifts for that special fishing buddy!
